Job Overview

Scope of Position:

Vessel Operations officer is responsible for directing and managing vessel operations. Direct responsibilities include working with Port Terminal, Vessel planners, Principal’s operation team andgovernment offices to ensure vessels remain on schedule and are being work efficiently. The position is responsible for ensuring operational standards and processes are maintained and that all regulatory requirements are met at all times.

Major Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Manage vessel operations for Carpenters Shipping Agencies, S.I Ltd.
  • Manage and oversee MCSL, Kyowa, ONE planners to ensure vessels are being worked and stowed per Principal’s requirements.
  • Maximize vessel operation efficiencies and productivity to meet or exceed standards.
  • Monitor and control all vessel activities including stowage, repairs, ganging, and standby times.
  • Prepare and distribute vessel projections.
  • Inspect flat cargo with Chief Mates to ensure seaworthiness.
  • Send out hazardous and reefer cargo manifests.
  • Send out final sailing emails and ensure vessel updates are accurate and distributed in a timely manner.
  • Work with SIPA to reduce or eliminate yard gang costs and operate as efficiently as possible.
  • Ensure that customer stowage requirements are met.
  • Ensure SOP’s are up to date and reviewed quarterly for changes.
  • Develops standards of best practices for processes.
  • Understands workflow and utilizes company computer systems to ensure accurate information is obtained from and transferred to the databases for efficient equipment maintenance and cost control.
  • Set associate objectives, follow-up, and evaluate. Reward and discipline as necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Preferably male with experience of about 3 years in shipping operation or Logistics related activities
