The Role
We are now seeking expression of interest in the position of Technician – Mining for a FIFO position based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO). Reporting to the Supervisor – Production, you will be required to provide support and technical expertise to the Supervisor in the Production, Road Maintenance or ROM Crusher areas.
The role will have responsibility to:
- Follow all mine Safety operating procedure’s (SOP’s) and Lihir NewSafe Behaviour.
- Works constructively within a diverse group of people.
- Operate Mobile plant & Equipment for Reliability, Operate with ownership.
- Follow all instructions issued by Mine Supervisors & Dispatchers.
- Recognises problems and proactively works towards resolution under the guidance of immediate Supervisor.
- Works well with others, listens actively, seeks inputs and asks clarification questions to check understanding staying focused and composed in a variety of work situations.
- Effectively manages own time to complete tasks in line with job expectations and requirements adjusting plans to cater for unforeseen events or disruptions.
Essential criteria
Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;
- Minimum level of Grade 10 education level.
- Relevant Surface Mining qualification.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferably within a mining environment.
- Demonstrated experience in operating Heavy Mobile Equipment including – CAT Dump Trucks 789,785,777,773, D10T & D11T Dozers, CAT Rollers, 18 M Graders, RH120 & RH200 Shovels, 992 & 993K Loaders.
- PNG Driver’s Licence – Class 6.
- Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution.
The Requirements
- Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
