Technical Services Engineer – (Powerplant)

This role reports to the Manager Technical Services and specializes in the allocated Aircraft Powerplant and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and in the interface of these specifications with other areas in relation to the Company’s and customer’s aircraft and equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring company’s compliance to CAAF, CAA (UK), FAA and ANR145 requirements and regulations in the mentioned areas of accountability. ATA responsibility for this role are ATA49 (APU), ATA61 (Propellers), ATA71-79 (Powerplant/Engine) and ATA80 (Starting).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical and troubleshooting expertise, and conducting research and investigation to support the Engineering and Maintenance Department. This includes, but is not limited to, failures, defects, repairs, parts, overhaul, modifications, sampling programs and preventative and condition monitoring program.
  • Advises Flight Operations of changes after modifications that affect operation of aircraft as well as providing assistance to Flight Operations in operational matters in the area of accountability. Submit to Flight Operations changes to the MEL’S.
  • Evaluates the technical specifications of new equipment or processes and recommending those which are suitable for approved use.
  • Helps in the development and final acceptance of specifications for new aircraft to be introduced in to service.
  • Carries out technical evaluation of airworthiness requirements and technical specifications and making appropriate recommendations for methods of compliance with the requirement and/or the suitability of the specifications.
  • Carries out identification, monitoring and analysis of defects and adverse trends in Maintenance findings and developing appropriate rectification action.
  • Liaises with approved external engineering and maintenance support organizations, vendors and manufacturer in relation to technical matters.
  • Maintains affective liaison and communication with the various Production, Quality Assurance and Planning groups in the promotion of harmonious relations on all matters affecting Technical Services support.
  • Participates as a member of the Modifications Committee and Maintenance Review Group.
  • Timely preparation of Certificate of Airworthiness Data for Company’s fleet of aircraft for C of A renewal.
  • Ensures that before company-initiated changes are made to the manufacturer’s basic aircraft specifications (as contained in maintenance/overhaul, parts, operations or other Technical Manuals etc. that all such changes are properly considered and can be shown to be technically correct.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the reporting Manager or section Coordinator.
  • Uses the total functionality of AMOS as required by the position to manage the role of TSE (Technical Support).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Aeronautical or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification, or
  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, with appropriate ratings
  • Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in an Engineering environment.
  • In depth knowledge of aircraft systems as well as comprehensive understanding of the Engineering & Maintenance requirements of an aircraft.
  • Experience in using computer-based maintenance control programs.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
