Senior Manager Engineering Continued Airworthiness

This position reports to the Chief Technical Officer and is responsible for managing and overseeing Fiji Airway’s Engineering Continued Airworthiness Support functions, provide leadership, ensure that the organisation’s policy, procedures, safety and quality standards comply with and meet or exceed CAAF and IOSA requirements, and manage the operational budget to achieve all metrics and goals set for the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the development, customizations and revisions to the aircraft maintenance programme. Assure rigid adherence to the approved aircraft maintenance programme by ensuring that all scheduled maintenance requirements are carried out and released.
  • Lead the effective and compliant Airworthiness Directive and mandatory modification management, review and evaluation.
  • Ensure control of the aircraft configuration of the fleet in AMOS.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks are correctly certified and the integrity of technical records of the fleet in operation and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Take direct responsibility for the renewal of Certificate of Airworthiness review package for each aircraft operated by the Company and ensure that these always remain valid.
  • Manage the approval of modifications, repairs and alterations for continued airworthiness and ensure that they comply with aircraft lease agreements.
  • Responsible for compliance with ETOPS Configuration Maintenance and Procedures (CMP) Standards for each fleet type.
  • Oversee the development, customizations and revisions to the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) for each fleet type and approved by CAAF.
  • Orchestrate the management and control the revisions of all the aircraft technical publications through the technical library system.
  • Lead the strategic fleet maintenance planning process and oversees the implementation of long-term objectives for the Engineering Planning Department.
  • Ensure efficient maintenance planning through liaison with Flight Operations and Commercial planning groups and other Divisional Controllers to identify future commitments.
  • Participate as a key member of the Management Review Group (MRG/SAG), Modifications Committee, Maintenance Review Group, ETOPS and Reliability Meeting for FJ Link and FJ Airways fleets.
  • Devise plans for scheduled maintenance, Engine/APU Shop visits, and the application of airworthiness directives.
  • Formulate engineering manpower plans.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee on-boarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting expertise, including research and investigations to support engineering.
  • Develop and manage the operational budget with relevant stakeholders to achieve all metrics and goals set for the business.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with external aircraft maintenance contractors (MRO) in matters regarding Fiji Airways Line and Heavy maintenance requirements.
  • Devise proactive and cost-effective solutions for any deficiencies that emerge which require immediate attention, and highlight to the Chief Technical Officer.
  • Identify risk to the Engineering Department, eliminate or mitigate to an acceptable level of residual risk by cost effective means, and manage residual risk.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering or other relevant field or Approved LAME.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in aviation, operations or airworthiness and at least 6 years in an engineering management role.
  • Expert knowledge of the Engineering & Maintenance MMOE, TOPS, Line Maintenance & ETOPS Manuals, Safety Procedures & OHS requirements and CAAF regulations and requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications and Aircraft Maintenance systems and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex projects.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and business skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
