The Opportunity


The Forum invites suitably experienced and qualified individuals to apply for the position of Programme Adviser – Resilient Development Finance.The role will be responsible for the provision of policy and technical advice, research, and analysis, to support PIFS’ delivery of relevant activities. Moreover, the role will also provide other related advice and support in connection with PIFS leadership role in contributing to the sustainable development priorities of Pacific Island countries and territories. The key responsibilities are summarised as:

  • Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) Research, Policy/Technical Advice& Advocacy;
  • Resilient Development Finance Capacity Building;
  • Coordinate the various Resilient Development Financing mechanisms;
  • Support and Coordinate the Implementation of the Regional Collective Actions for Climate and Disasters; thematic area under the 2050 Strategy Implementation Plan;
  • Support for PRP Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) Working Group;
  • Support the Pacific Resilience Facility resource mobilisation;
  • Support and coordinate the linkage between sustainable trade and environment;
  • Knowledge Products, Communication and Advocacy; and Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.

Applicants should have an advanced degree (Master’s level) in Economics, finance, climate change, environmental studies, development, public policy, or related fields such as Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change or Development Financing. At least seven years’ experience of developments in Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance and resilient development financing in Small Island Developing States, preferably in the Pacific region, is required.

The Benefits

The position carries a competitive and attractive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance, education, and housing allowance. The position is placed at Band 12 / Adviser level of our salary scale, starting atSDR 43,790 to 49,263equivalent toFJD132,576 to 149,146.

Note:Amounts are based on 1 November foreign exchange rate, but your final salary will be dependent on foreign exchange rates at the time of payment.
