Payments Assistant
This role reports to the Payments Manager and is responsible for processing supplier payments to ensure that Company is not exposed to disruption of suppliers and other penalties. The Payments Assistant will liaise with suppliers, business units and management in respect to payment queries and resolutions as well as verify and investigate discrepancies. The successful candidate is also responsible for completing the appropriate ledger reconciliations to support creditor and general ledger balances.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Action supplier payments in line with agreed terms, statutory regulations and company policies to ensure APL Group is not exposed to disruption of supplies, or interest, tax and other penalties.

Ensure only invoices approved in accordance with relevant Company policies and procedures are processed for payment.

Prepare appropriate analysis to support the monthly VAT return.

Liaise with suppliers, business units and management in respect of payment queries and resolutions.

Complete appropriate ledger reconciliations to support creditor and general ledger balances.

Ensure accountable documents are recorded and filed to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Deliver monthly KPIs in line with agreed objectives.

Provide support and assistance to internal and external auditors when required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.

Must have at least 3 to 5 years of working experience.

Advanced excel and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

Possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills.

Have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
