Materials Storeman

This role reports to Technical Materials Coordinator and the purpose of the Materials Storeman role is responsible for the management and control of Technical Materials Warehouse in their respective shifts. The position holder is directly accountable for the safety and security of the warehouse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives & reviews daily electronic and/or manual requisition for spares requirements from Maintenance and Aircraft Workshops for the maintenance on aircraft, ground support equipment & aircraft component workshops and actions the request appropriately.
  • Ensures that correct spares in accurate quantities are issued out to originator of requisition and engineering maintenance system (AMOS) is updated immediately.
  • Receives and inspects for serviceability of all unused materials being returned to Technical Materials Warehouse and ensures that all serviceable items are accurately binned in their storage locations and unserviceable items are placed on the unserviceable racks.
  • Prepares export documentation of all materials going out for repair, items being returned to MRO’s and contracted inventory technical management providers, and all outgoing shipments. Carry out dangerous goods certification, handling and packaging of all “Dangerous Goods” shipments.
  • Transfers all outgoing shipments from Technical Materials Warehouse to Freight Terminal prior to the cut off time for scheduled flights. Ensures that all parts and materials are packaged and handled in accordance with their component specifications and using ATA 300 recommendations.
  • Collects all items released from Fiji Customs and transfers to Materials Receipts for inspection & release. Verifies that all shipments collected are correct and total number of pieces are accounted for.
  • Inspects and receives all incoming shipments in engineering maintenance system (AMOS) for Quality Assurance Materials Inspector to release to service.
  • Ensures that all aircraft parts and materials are handled in such a manner to ensure there is no accidental damage. All aircraft parts and materials that require special handling are to be handled and stored as per the component specification and maintenance manuals.
  • Carries our binning and storage of all aircraft parts, tools, ground support equipment spares and materials as specified in the component maintenance manuals and specifications. Ensures that all materials are binned as per guidelines provided by QAMI.
  • Conducts stock checks on the current stock on hand and advises Materials Planning Officers and Technical Materials Coordinator of any discrepancies for appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and housekeeping of Technical Materials Warehouse and ensure that all materials are always stored in a presentable manner. Always implement 6S philosophy in maintaining the house keeping of the warehouse.
  • Provides coverage of Technical Tool Stores in absence of Tool Crib Attendant, afterhours and during all weekends. Ensure that all tools issued out for aircraft maintenance and accurately recorded and returned at the end of the shift. Provide discrepancy report to Technical Materials Coordinator and Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator if there are tools not returned.
  • Provides coverage for Quality Assurance Materials Inspector and Materials Planning Officer as required by Technical Materials Coordinator during their absence.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Line Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate in Engineering Discipline / Supply Chain Management
  • Successful completion of Fiji Seventh Form Examination
  • Dangerous Goods Certification Approval will be an advantage
  • Valid Group 2 Driving License
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Logistics and Warehouse Management
  • Previous experience in a procurement & supply chain role
  • Basic Understanding of 6S (6 Sigma) Philosophy
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications and previous experience in using inventory management systems
