The role is responsible for building SPTO’s brand awareness and provides customer/stakeholder services through the development and implementation of SPTO’s marketing initiatives, advertising, and communications strategies. The role ensures effective membership management and coordinates the Pacific Storytelling Specialist Programme. Reporting to the Manager Marketing, the role will be responsible for driving and achieving the following critical outcomes:

Develop and implement effective marketing, public relations, communications and campaigning initiatives

  •  Create and organise marketing activities to raise SPTO brand awareness
  • Develop and implement marketing/media plans including print, online, video, tradeshows and social networking opportunities
  • Channel advertising and promotional campaigns for product and services to the appropriate media and online services
  • Conduct market research and identify effective promotional methods
  • Create, write and execute publicity campaigns and press releases

Ensure divisional management, support and leadership through the effective coordination of division operations

  • Provide effective assistance to Manager Marketing in overseeing the division’s operations
  • Assist with the administration of SPTO’s events. Conferences, forums and working groups

Guarantee effective member and/or stakeholder engagement

  • Liaise with stakeholders and vendors to promote success of activities
  • Ensure strong and engaged Industry Membership Programme

Coordinate the Pacific Storytelling Specialist Programme

  • Promote programme, enrolment and course completions
  • Provide regular reports and address queries by Management and CEO
  • Working closely with the consultants of the Pacific Storytelling Specialist Programme to achieve the outcomes of the NZMFAT Phase 2 Digital Transformation Programme

The person we seek will have at least 5 years of relevant experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications and/or related discipline with a Degree in Marketing, Journalism & Media, Tourism Management or related field. The applicant must possess the following:

  • Experience in market research and analysis, and identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Proven ability to formulate successful marketing plans to maximise brand impact, member and customer growth
  • Excellent and demonstrable communication and relationship management skills
  • Good planning, time management and organising ability including project management
