Manager Transport

This role reports to the Chief Technical Officer and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the transportation department, ensuring a safe and reliable service to transport Fiji Airways crew and staff to and from workstations. This responsibility will extend to developing strategies to ensure the efficient and cost-effective functioning of the transport service.


  • Manage, supervise and coordinate staff duties, activities and responsibilities including discipline.
  • Accountable for transportation schedules, plans and development of roster patterns for drivers.
  • Ensure the departmental facilities, assets, tools, and equipment are recorded, maintained, managed and compliant in every aspect.
  • Develop strategies for greater fuel efficiency. Regularly monitor fuel and other associated costs to make recommendations and adjustments to reduce cost.
  • Responsible for communicating key information to drivers, face to face and via additional coms.
  • Monitor driver behaviour and ensure the delivery of high level of customer service that is represents the Company’s service vision. Drive a safety culture and coach drivers in any areas of professional development.
  • Schedule regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage duties as required within the operational team.
  • Develop through research plans for traffic, construction and weather delays in order to deliver to the schedule.
  • Use navigation applications to determine the best route, monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft.
  • Escalate issues to department manager ensuring this is communicated clearly and effectively.
  • Accountable for maintenance of vehicles and tools using equipment manufactures recommendations and ensuring facility and equipment’s are cleaned and kept under company standards.
  • Ensure minimum spares order levels are maintained. Ensure strict servicing and maintenance times to minimise downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Review mileage records and repair records to ensure that these are up-to-date at all times.
  • Accountable for maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection. Ensure that timely renewals are completed for all vehicle’s wheel tax certificate and driver’s driving license.
  • Accountable for management of the Transportation ERP System.
  • Analyse data to increase business and operational efficiency.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Technical Officer.


  • Tertiary level education in business administration
  • Valid driving license required
  • 3 years’ experience in fleet management.
  • Previous experience with transportation management.
  • Experience in developing rostering for complex business is referred.
  • Extensive knowledge of operating areas
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal communication
  • Competent Windows/Microsoft user
  • Ability to multi task
  • Proficiency using GPS devices
