MANAGER SAFETY SYSTEM (MSS)

This role reports to the Senior Manager Operational Safety (SM OpsSafety) for daily administration of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) to assure the attainment and maintenance of acceptable level of safety in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements and company safety goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and implement the elements of Fiji Airways Safety Management System Manual (SMSM) suite
  • Maintain the SMS database and documents (System Administrator for R-R SMS,safety & security reporting, Action log, Risk register, SRMs, mitigation plans, training material, training records and SMS department manuals)
  • Provides the documented framework/guideline/process for safety data, information and reports through R-R SMS, interpret safety data, create action plans based on the data
  • Facilitates Safety Risk Management and Management of Change processes and activities within operations to align activities with SMSM.
  • Conduct daily processing of Occurrence Reports,
  • Facilitates periodic reviews of occurrence reports to identify potential trends and threats, and identify any potential requirements for investigation and ensuring necessary Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MORs) are reviewed and submitted to the regulatory agencies in compliance with ANR71
  • Act as the point of contact with CAAF for MOR submissions and follow-ups
  • Participate as necessary for investigations, safety audits and inspections.
  • Responsible for collating data to report operations safety objectives, SPIs, SPTs and other safety performance monitoring information throughout the organization.
  • Prepares and provides regular reports to operations management on SMS status and updates for operational meetings, management review forum, performance review meetings and external reporting requirements
  • Ensure safety and security data sharing with IATA (IDX & FDX uploads)
  • Implements, manages and monitors the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) policies, procedures, processes and activities.
  • Manage and administrate Fatigue Assessment Tool (System Administrator for FAID).
  • Implements, manages and monitors the corporate Drug & Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP), policies, procedures, processes and activities.
  • Ongoing review of the interface between Fiji Link SMS, Fiji Aviation Academy SMS and ensuring improvements are recommended to SM OpsSafety
  • Promotes ‘Just Culture’ framework throughout the organization and supports SMS training and safety promotion functions
  • Coordinates timely publication of safety promotional information such as memos, newsletters and journals to ensure safety feedback and communication
  • Assists the SM OpsSafety in developing, monitoring and reviewing annual department budgets, work force planning, and department projects.
  • Provides the documented framework/guideline/process for safety data, information and reports through R-R SMS.
  • Facilitates risk assessments of activities within operations for decision making by operational units and/or required.
  • Participate as necessary for investigations, safety audits and inspections.
  • Prepares and provides regular reports to management on SMS status and updates for management review forum and performance review meetings
  • Facilitates processes and activities for Safety Assurance, Safety Promotions and communication

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree level qualification in Science, Safety or the equivalent experience in a Safety management role
  • Aviation Safety Management System Certification or equivalent training
  • Accident/incident investigation Training preferred
  • Have 3 years’ experience in Aviation, Airline Operations discipline preferred
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory and aviation safety systems.
  • Analytical skills and/or similar background for safety trend and predictive analysis
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Must be acceptable to CAAF as a fit and proper person for delegation of Safety Manager post holder responsibilities
