Manager Fiji Airways Aviation Academy Administration and Quality

This role reports to the Senior Manager Fiji Airways Academy and is responsible for the day-to-day administration, logistics and management of the FJAA facility, for the certification and compliance of the facility and its training devices, and for the quality of the training output.

The role is a customer focused role to ensure that the Academy provides outstanding service to internal users and external customers.


  • Manage the use of the Academy’s premises and assets and maintain the Academy budget.
  • Coordinate all internal and external service providers to ensure full availability of the Academy and its assets.
  • Manage the Academy’s suppliers and other business partners to achieve value for money and strong cost control.
  • Achieve ASA Part ORA and CAAF equivalent approvals for FJAA to operate as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), and maintain continuous compliance.
  • Achieve appropriate level EASA and CAAF approvals for new training devices and thereafter maintain such approvals for these and existing devices.
  • Establish a path to achieve approval as a FAR Part 142 Training Center and for FAA approval of the training devices.
  • Manage the resources required to support the Approved Training Organization (ATO).
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Academy’s business policies and procedures.
  • Host third party training events, ensure that customer expectations are understood and where committed to are met, and that a Desired level of customer service is provided.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient coverage of suitably qualified and experienced personnel to cover all planned training events.
  • With the Business Development Manager identify and evaluate opportunities to expand the Academy’s airline training footprint and articulate the business cases necessary to achieve fulfillment of these.
  • Develop and deliver an audit plan to assure quality of the FJAA’s training services.
  • Manage the expansion of the Academy’s facilities in line with the FJAA development plan.
  • Manage and develop all administration and business support staff employed at the Academy.


  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent in Business, Finance or Aviation with at least 3 years of management experience within an aviation environment.
  • Can demonstrate a successful track record at a management level.
  • At least 5 years of business experience in an Airline or Aviation regulator environment.
  • Awareness of the regulatory environment covering the certification of the part ORA entity and approval and operation of the training devices.
  • Current or lapsed ATPL holder and Type Rated Instructor on at least one of the Company’s jet types or qualified as an SFI (Preferred).
  • Experienced in dealing with regulators on regulatory matters.
  • Possess advanced managerial and administrative skills.
