Applications are sought from suitably qualified Nationals to fill the following positions within the Civil Engineering Department.
Department of the Civil Engineering
The department offers a four-year undergraduate degree program, a two-year postgraduate program either by coursework or research and PhD programs. The postgraduate programs offered by course work in the department are Master of Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Solid Waste & Resource Management.
Vacancies exist in all specializations of Civil Engineering. Applicants must be qualified and able to teach undergraduate students. They must be able to carry out research in their areas. The appointees will be responsible to the Head of the Department for academic and research leadership and assist in the operation and administration of the department where necessary. They will perform teaching duties, including supervision of undergraduate students and pursue research and appropriate consulting activities in order to maintain high professional standards within the discipline. They will also be required to make contributions to the department’s periodic curriculum review and accreditation processes.
Lecturer in Civil Engineering (CE0007, CE0010 & CE0011)
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree or a Ph. D in any one of the Civil Engineering specializations viz., Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics & Water
Resource Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Transportation Engineering from a recognized university. He/she must have at least 2 years full time university teaching experience or equivalent 4 years professional experience. An applicant with a masters must have at least 2 publications in any peer reviewed journal and show evidence of an aptitude for teaching.
The successful candidates are required to have very good communication skills and take leadership roles in their areas of specialization as well as conduct research and teach both large and small classes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Must also be familiar with teaching in distance mode and with using learning management systems such as Google Classroom or Moodle, be able to develop appropriate assessments, supervise, mark and examine projects, undergraduate student dissertations and practical work, provide support and guidance on academic matters as per the course accreditation requirements.
Conditions of Service:
Lecturer I/II PGK45,250.00 – PGK65,413.00 per annum
Domestic Market Allowance PGK 13,639 – PGK31,585 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
