Job Overview
Layer Farm Manager
The above position will be based in one of our layer farms located at central division and directly reports to our Farm Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day to day running and operations of the farm in accordance with established standard operating procedures and poultry guidelines
- Ensure sheds are prepared on time and given required rest period
- Follow production plan in terms of intake, production and culling.
- Inspect quality of pullets during receiving and take appropriate actions should required
- Achieve required body and egg weights
- Maintain mortality and shrinkages percentage below the given targets
- General medication management
- Achieve all farm performance targets
- Managed overall farm inventory including the layers housed
- Maintain shed performance and batch file recording
- Perform batch file analysis and recommend suggestions for improvement
- Ensure full compliance towards Bio Security procedures
- Supervision and control of farm employees
- Conduct training and development of employees
- Comply with all OHS requirements
- Ratification of all farm nonconformance identified through internal auditing program
Key Competency Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in any of the following: Agriculture, Animal husbandry or veterinary science
- At least 5 years of working experience on a managerial role
- Matured, self-driven and ability to perform without supervision
- Ability to live in company provided accommodation
- Ability to perform shift work and extra yards when required
