Job Overview

We are currently seeking to recruit a Corrosion Control Technician for our Fixed Plant Maintenance Department – Project Section. Reporting to the Project Supervisor, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible for safely performing blasting and painting duties, repairs and maintenance of blasting and painting equipment in accordance with established codes and standards.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting blasting and painting duties on structural substrates in and around the processing mill
  • Conduct inspections, testing and repairs on blasting and painting equipment and tools
  • Correctly identify and report unsafe or defective tooling to immediate Supervisor
  • Evaluate damage and to assess the extent of repairs required
  • Control work flow to fully utilise protective coating and to maintain an effective work flow
  • Capable of working locating, reading and understanding structural drawings, technical data and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSD)
  • Reading fabrication drawings and fabricate equipment accurately from drawings
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in an efficient manner
  • Stand in for Supervisor as required and run shift in an efficient manner
  • Provide informative handovers to Supervisor or other Trades Persons

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Certification in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years or more experience in a similar role, preferable in within Mining Industry
  • Broad experience in all facets of protective coatings strategies
  • Ability to read drawings and fabricate equipment accurately from drawings.
  • Basic working knowledge of computerized maintenance systems
  • High level of attention to detail and be focused on task completion
  • High Level of technical problem solving and time management skills
  • Able to work unsupervised and with limited direction
  • Able to work effectively within a multi – cultural workforce

 

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based
