The Role

 

We are now seeking expression of interest from the position of Geologist – Orebody Knowledge for a FIFO position based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO). Reporting to the Superintendent Orebody Knowledge, you will be required to supervise & lead the site exploration team to deliver short term and medium-term exploration work programs.

The role will have responsibility to:

  • Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership.
  • Ensure all personnel, visitors and business partners comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.
  • Be a good representative of the company when attending host community gatherings.
  • Accountable to deliver the short term and medium-term exploration work programs in line with budget and statutory requirements & Statutory reporting.

 

Essential criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;

  • Tertiary Qualifications with a Bachelor of Degree in Science (Geology/Earth Science).
  • 5 years’ experience working in Greenfields and Brownfields exploration.
  • Experience using Geology and Mining software – MapInfo Discover, LeapFrog Software and Acquire database.
  • Experience in geochemical sampling, diamond drilling and project management.
  • PNG Driver’s Licence – Class 6.
  • Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution.

 

The Requirements

 

  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
