The Role
We are now seeking expression of interest from the position of Geologist – Orebody Knowledge for a FIFO position based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO). Reporting to the Superintendent Orebody Knowledge, you will be required to supervise & lead the site exploration team to deliver short term and medium-term exploration work programs.
The role will have responsibility to:
- Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership.
- Ensure all personnel, visitors and business partners comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.
- Be a good representative of the company when attending host community gatherings.
- Accountable to deliver the short term and medium-term exploration work programs in line with budget and statutory requirements & Statutory reporting.
Essential criteria
Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;
- Tertiary Qualifications with a Bachelor of Degree in Science (Geology/Earth Science).
- 5 years’ experience working in Greenfields and Brownfields exploration.
- Experience using Geology and Mining software – MapInfo Discover, LeapFrog Software and Acquire database.
- Experience in geochemical sampling, diamond drilling and project management.
- PNG Driver’s Licence – Class 6.
- Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution.
The Requirements
- Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
