Job Overview
We are currently seeking to recruit a Fire Instrument Technician for our Fixed Plant Maintenance – Site Service Department. Reporting to the Site Services Electrical Shift Supervisor, the primary objective of this role is conducting Fire Systems Inspections and repairs in accordance to set standards and industry’s best practices in a safe and efficient manner ensuring availability with no faults.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Installing and programing fire alarm systems and equipment
- Troubleshoot, repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems relating to fire alarms
- Ensures site fire alarm systems and emergency electrical systems are operational
- Evaluate damage to equipment and assess the extent of repairs required
- Assist in fire safety inspections
- Conducting Inspections, tests and repairs on devices such as smoke detectors, sprinklers and dry stand pipe system
- Liaise with the Electrical Shift Supervisor and the Maintenance Planning team regarding work plans to allow adequate preparation time for task allocation
- Identifying bottlenecks and use problem solving tools to identify system improvement opportunities
- Ensure parts, consumables and expertise are available as scheduled to enable team leaders to allocate and supervisor work flow
- Manage consumables and used information for instrumentation repairs to enable controlled ordering of materials and timely delivery
- Reporting all accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor
- Cascade plan and objectives through the team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Hold a valid PNG Instrumentation Trade Certificate or Electrical Trade Certification
- 3 years or more experience in a similar role
- Broad experience in all facets of electrical control and distribution equipment maintenance and repair
- Basic working knowledge of computerised maintenance systems
- Good communication skills, both written & oral
- Sound Planning and organisational skills
- Strong technical skills, with being able to analyse and solve problems
- Be Safety focused
- Have current class 3 or 6 PNG driver’s licence
- Prepared to work to flexible company roster and varying work hours as required
- Be able to work in a team & multi-cultural environment
The above role is Hidden Valley Mine Site Based.
