Job Overview

As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the financial operations of our resort. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies and plans to maximize revenue and profitability. Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, monitor performance against budgets, and provide regular forecasts. Identify and address variances promptly.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements etc, to executive management and stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow effectively, optimizing working capital, and overseeing banking functions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with all financial reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements e.g. VAT, PAYE, STT, FNPF, Environment Levy, FBT and Income Tax etc.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a 4 to 5 star hotel/resort operation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software – Quickbooks, iVend, POS system, Microsoft Excel; and property management system – Room Master.

This position is island based. We offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
