Job Overview

Established in 1983 as the Tourism Council of the South Pacific, the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is the mandated organisation representing Tourism in the region. In addition to government members, the Pacific Tourism Organisation has about 145 private sector members.

The role is required to create and deliver engaging and inspiring content across SPTO’s range of digital channels and platforms. The Content Writer ensures SPTO’s digital presence supports and enhances its projects and business offering including ensuring stakeholder management. S/he reports to the Manager Marketing and will be responsible for driving and achieving the following critical outcomes:

  • Create, Deliver and Monitor Strategic Content to Support SPTO’s Digital and Content Strategy

– Produce relevant content or websites, blogs and social media platforms

– Assist in the development of content for advertising campaigns

– Analyse website and social media traffic and report on the research of content

– Manage day-to-day digital channels and create informative and engaging content

  • Develop and Maintain Stakeholder Relationships

– Establish partnerships with National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) and Industry Members

– Build relationships with local, regional and international media agencies

  • Support Effective Project-Based Communications SPTO, NTOs and Industry Members

– Assist with the upgrading of content for’ websites

– Provide training and advice on the development and management of digital channel content

The person we seek will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Media/Communications/Public Relations/Language & Literature and a minimum of 3 years in a similar role. The applicant must possess the following:

  • Proven track record of designing and executing successful content strategy and PR campaigns
  • Experience in using all forms of social and online media to deliver messages to target audiences
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and web content management systems, desirable
