Our properties are successful and well known in Fiji and the Pacific, the cluster we are referring here consists of two Hotels across two different brands. These include the Grand Pacific Hotel which is on an historic journey as we transit into our Luxury & Lifestyle collection of becoming “InterContinental Grand Pacific Hotel Suva” and the vibrant and beloved Holiday Inn brand, Holiday Inn Suva.

As a Cluster Human Resources Manager, you will become part of an exceptional team that will lead and provide required guidance to the two properties.

Your day to day

The main responsibility of the Cluster – Human Resources & Training Manager is to perform the role of a strategic business partner by ensuring consistency in all HR components of Employee Life Cycle across the 2 Hotels. Also act as a catalyst for organizational change process management and be a role model by representing the IHG core values of Integrity, Trust, Respect, One Team and True Hospitality at work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

With the support of the capable Hotel based HR & L&D teams, you will be responsible for the below for the two hotels in your cluster:

  • Coordinate regular staff surveys and analyze the results, ensuring action plans are implemented – analyze and review employee satisfaction surveys and facilitate and monitor improvement action plans
  • Regularly (monthly) analyze business needs in conjunction with hotel leadership team to set priorities and support improvement in areas identified (OH&S, Brand standardization turnover, organization structures, TNA, recruitment).
  • Participate in the overall business planning process. In conjunction with area HR develop budget guidelines specific to the HR function – review and evaluate HR business plan’s ability to meet needs of business.  Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze and confirm hotel organization structures’ ability to meet current/future needs of the business.
  • Monitor hotel-based salary and benefit allocations and ensure equitable allocation of IHG standards.
  • Oversee any Industrial Relations issues with the hotels and establish strong relationships with relevant third parties to ensure issues are dealt with immediately – monitor IR issues and prepare communication overview of current/pending IR issues/developments
  • Identify, recommend, facilitate and monitor T&D programs and initiatives to develop individual and organizational capability.
  • Develop and maintain open communication framework with hotel GM, Excom and AGM to ensure upholding of values, vision and purpose.

What we need from you

For you to be the ideal candidate, you should have the following:

  • A degree in Human Resource, Business or related field or Diploma in Training or Human Resource Management
  • 3-5 years experience in human resource management, industry experience would be an advantage.
  • Possess prior leadership experience in in managing multi-stakeholder relationships in a matrix environment which offers an environment of multiplicity, uncertainty, and change
  • Ability to work across multiple diversified business units or multiple projects
  • Highly developed written and verbal English communication skills to effectively negotiate, persuade and influence are critical
  • Proactive approach, with strong drive for team results and a track record of achievement
  • Demonstrated ability to approach situations with analysis, clarity, leadership, time management and prioritisation; develop strategic people plans, establish goals and objectives
  • Competency in allocating resources, controlling expenses and working within pre-determined budgets
  • Creative, innovative and continually aware of new technology trends in the travel/hospitality industry
