The Papua New Guinea University of Technology opened its first Satellite University in Kundiawa, Simbu Province on 2nd of April, 2017 in its drive to extend its courses to grade 10 and 12 school leavers who cannot gain admission to On-Campus full time programs. This initiative is a joint effort of the Simbu Provincial Government and the PNG University of Technology and aims to provide learning programs that are prestigious, affordable, accessible and appropriate in Papua New Guinea. It aims to provide quality tertiary education to the general public at an affordable cost initially at Diploma levels with pathways to continue their Degree studies at the University’s main Taraka campus. The Simbu Unitech Satellite campus will offer IT, Business Studies and Communications for Development initially and expand to include other diploma and degree programs.

We currently seek a Director. He or she will be answerable to the Vice Chancellor and will be required to provide overall leadership and management of SUSU. The Director will be responsible for administrative functions of SUSU’s academic programs from implementation of Diploma and Degree programs to certification and records of students academic performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Director will be required to oversee the current academic programs, provide strategic leadership, ensure academic qualities are maintained at all times, ensure efficient and effective delivery of programs, liaise with partner organizations for policy, franchise, and corporate issues pertaining to distance education, carry out research for development and incorporation of new management skills and ideas, attend and participate in seminars and other professional bodies, be accountable for financial affairs of SUSU campus; fees, policies, licenses, and audit reports, be accountable for quality issues in DODL programs, report to the Vice Chancellor all matters pertaining to the campus, carry out all other functions and duties as delegated by the Vice Chancellor.

The Director will be responsible for budgeting/finance, newsletters, and engagement with stakeholders and ensure professional development and progression of all staff. He or she will be involved in special projects as directed by the Vice Chancellor with regard to buildings and office relocation programs, utilities, communication and networking.

Qualification & Experience

The minimum qualifications required for this position is a postgraduate qualification preferably at Masters Level specializing in education/curriculum development. He or she should have five or more years of relevant experience with appropriate teaching and management experience in an area that is related to distance education, and must be able to clearly demonstrate his/her administrative/leadership potential in the area of distance education.

The incumbent must be mature, able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. He or she must be cooperative, have friendly manners, be able to develop and maintain good relationships with staff and clients at all levels.

Conditions of service

Base Salary Range: K51,978 – K72,673 per annum

DMA Range: K6,200 – K11,800 per annum

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
