Business Development Specialist

Fiji Airways is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our Strategy, Network Planning & Alliances team as a Business Development Specialist. As the successful appointee, you will identify, develop and maintain Fiji Airways (FJ) relationships with global airline partners, which include Codeshare, Interline and Frequent Flyer, Through Check-in, Staff travel and more, by interacting with commercial groups and partners to enhance value in these areas to optimize traffic flows onto the FJ network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle the daily management of the entire spectrum of interline relationships with partner airlines.
  • Actively engage and coordinate with internal FJ stakeholders across functional areas to ensure that all commercial, technical and documentation set up with partner airlines is well negotiated, implemented, communicated internally and maintained.
  • Liaise across all Commercial functions to understand online and offline market requirements.
  • Support FJ Sales and Reservations teams to enable interline and codeshare sales on connecting itineraries by appropriately liaising with partner airlines for confirmations or systems issues etc.
  • Engage with partner airlines, FJ Marketing and Public Relations teams to ensure new partner launch communications and on-going promotions are put together to ensure high visibility for codeshare and interline sales across all digital and social platforms.
  • Keep track of competitor and partner schedules in the region, highlighting events of concern and provide a thorough researched recommendation plan to ensure timely actions to mitigate any adverse impact.
  • Identify new strategic opportunities and collaborate with the partners and/or other FJ internal stakeholders to review and resolve issues.
  • Assess strategic and financial value of individual partnerships.
  • Maintain updated Partner Relationship Scope and contacts database to ensure essential information is readily available.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Finance or related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 3 years in a commercial role.
  • Prior experience in an airline or travel industry related role in a commercial area such as Revenue Management, Revenue Accounting, Network Planning, Sales, Marketing, Loyalty or Regulatory would be an added advantage.
  • Strong command of English language (written and spoken).
  • Strong negotiating skills with the ability to understand multiple perspectives and build consensus across diverse stakeholders is required.
  • Possess critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data, comprehend and produce reports with inferences.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Excel and PowerPoint use.
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment will be an added advantage.
