Job Overview
  1. Salary Range*: $19,041.75-$24,412.00 (BAND E)
    *Additional performance payments may be available for our highest performers, in accordance with the
    Public Service Commission guidelines
  2. Contract Term: 3 years (including 6 months probationary period)
  3. Duty Station: Suva.
  4. Reporting Responsibilities:
    a) Reports To: Senior Immigration Officer, Border Control
    b) Liaises With: Internal and External Stakeholders.
    c) Subordinates: NIL

POSITION PURPOSE
The position is responsible for the effective and timely boarding and clearance of all inward/outward
aircrafts/vessels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will achieve its purpose through the following;

  1. Ensure that all inward aircrafts and passengers are cleared and meets entry requirement.
  2. Ensure all Crews and Passengers are all accounted for inward & outward immigration clearance procedures.
  3. Attend to referrals and other verifications during clearance from Primary Line Officers (PLO)
  4. Ensure that clearance for vessels which came in foreign ports is completed.
  5. Ensure that all arriving and departing passengers are cleared, stamped on arrival or departure and all details
    are entered in the system by PLO.
  6. Ensure that all data entered reconcile with figures provided by Airline and PLO.
  7. Provide accurate reporting system and ensure effective and efficient system usage.
  8. Actively contribute to all requirements, including planning, budgeting and corporate/ Human Resource
    Management activities as required.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  1. All reports are submitted within the agreed timeframes and meet the standard reporting requirements,
    including analyses of data and recommendations for improvements; and

  3. Work in Compliance with the current legislation in relevance to referral duties, facilitation and ensuring
    public’s adherence to immigration laws.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
In addition to a Degree in Management and Public Administration or other relevant qualification ( r
equivalent work experience) the following Knowledge Skills, Experience and Abilities are required to
undertake this role.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  1. At least 2 years work experience in a high level administration position
  2. Sound practical work experience working with external customers
  3. Sound knowledge and understanding of Immigration Legislation applicable to Fiji.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Good communication skills ( Verbal and written) skills and the ability to tactfully deal with stakeholders
  2. Ability to follow guidelines and meet set timeframes
  3. Good interpersonal and representational skills
  4. Demonstrated ability to write and produce effective reports
  5. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
  6. Capacity to utilize computer programs to support daily operations
  7. Service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational and corporate
    environment of the organization.

PERSONAL CHARACTER AND ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for employment within the Fiji Civil Service must be Fijian Citizens, under the age of 60, in
sound health with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical
certificate and police clearance prior as a condition of employment.
