Job Overview

Solomon Finance Limited (SFL) is a credit institution, licensed under the Financial institution Act by the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) and is solely owned by the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund Board (SINPF). SFL invites applicants to fill a position that is currently vacant within the institution as outlined below.

Position Title: Assistant Finance Officer
Department: Finance

Required Qualification/ Experience:
– Academic – Minimum of Diploma in Finance and Accounting
– Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the Finance/Banking Field
– Familiar with Banking Financial Software (Pronto, Loans Management System, MYOB)
– Well knowledgeable with financial and accounting standards, regulations, and procedures.

Key Result Area
1. Collaborate effectively with the Finance Officer to develop & prepare a strategic plan
2. Manage financial decisions about the policy and strategy of SFL.
3. Oversee SFL’s fiscal activity, including liquidity position, and expenses vs budget monitoring reporting. Providing necessary support to Finance Officer in management, financial and regulatory, and auditing.
4. Prepare the weekly, monthly, and quarterly GL reconciliation reports required by the management.
5. Assure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
6. Risk oriented by identifying and managing financial risks and opportunities for SFL.
7. Supervise and coordinate payroll, cashiering, and recording of daily receipts.
8. Manage cash controls as well as maintain bookkeeping up-to-date
9. Prepare deposits and make bank deposits on a daily basis.
10. Reconciliation of debtors’ and creditors’ accounts.
11. Prepare and submit quarterly, monthly and annual financial reports
12. maintaining financial records with recent transactions and changes are properly updated and recorded.
13. Perform any other duties assigned by Immediate Supervisors from time to time

iv. Communication Skills – Ability to formulate clear messages in both verbal and written communication, when communicating with clients, reporting to management, and making a presentation of financial reports to the Board.
v. Adapting to Change – the ability to adapt to changes in management, changes in the use of new technology (especially those related to general ledger software), regulation, and business environment.
