Workshop Manager – MRO (GSE)
We are pleased to announce an open vacancy now exists in our Engineering Department (MRO - GSE) for a qualified and experienced Workshop Manager.
Based in Port Moresby, this position will report to the Manager Aircraft Maintenance (MAM) operationally, and functionally to the GM – MRO.
The Workshop Manager will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate the day to day activity of workshop personnel to ensure that equipment is maintained efficiently.
Ensures that equipment availability is optimized by planning and implementation of maintenance schedules for mobile and fixed plant.
Preparation of the workshop operations budget and quotes/job costing relating to repair or maintenance of equipment.
Ensure that plant maintenance costs remain within budget.
Liaison with the Manager Aircraft Manager in relation to Ground Services Equipment replacement and improvements.
Oversees the training of apprentices and post trade training of other workshop personnel
Effectively supervising day to day work and providing direction to staff
Ensuring all workshop staff are present and actively employed during their rostered duty
Ensuring all time sheets/cards are filled in correctly and certified as being correct
Supervising all workshop maintenance activities
Communicating effectively with all workshop staff and ensuring sufficient staff are assigned to each task.
Ensuring staff are qualified and competent to perform the maintenance functions assigned to them
Ensuring maintenance is performed in accordance with the appropriate manuals, policies and procedures
Ensuring any modifications embodied and/or repairs carried out are fully detailed on the Modification and Repair Report and in the case of modifications that a major versus minor determination has been recorded.
To be considered, you must have the relevant qualifications with previous experience in a similar role including having the following key attributes:
Trade Qualified and relevant trainings attained
At least 5 years and above years’ experience in an aviation industry or related with planning and supervisory experience
Have good computer skills
Ability to work with deadlines and work under pressure.
Good written and spoken communication skills
Knowledge of all Ground Services Equipment (GSE) workshop roles and responsibilities, and other related responsibilities for the support of effective and efficient operational requirements of the organization.
