Utility Hand - Nadi

This role reports to the Ramp Coordinator  and is responsible for contributing to the achievement of safe, secure, and on-time departures for Fiji Link scheduled, positioning, and charter flights by delivering prompt cargo and baggage services in accordance with the Fiji Link Manual Suite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely and securely load baggage and cargo in accordance with the Loading Instruction Report (LIR) provided by Load Controllers.
  • Support on-time departures for scheduled, ferry, and charter flights by carrying out aircraft cleaning, replenishment, offloading (including delivery of baggage to the carousel or International Terminal where applicable), and loading in accordance with aircraft-specific requirements outlined in the Ground Operations Manual (GOM) and Weight and Balance Manual.
  • Ensure safe handling of customer baggage and assist customers to and from the aircraft in line with guidelines set out in the Fiji Link Ground Operations Manual.
  • Monitor and ensure passenger safety on the tarmac during boarding and disembarkation to mitigate risks to customers and Fiji Link.
  • To Ensure distribution of duty, safe and secure departures, Utility Hands role are - LIR Officer or Baggage makeup officer, Catering Officer, Cleaner, Loading and Unloading officer, Driver (where applicable).
  • Perform any other operational duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Senior Manager Ground Operations.
  • Maintain a Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free environment in baggage make-up and aircraft movement areas to prevent injuries, incidents, or accidents.
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or Ground Service Equipment (GSE) deficiencies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Comply with shift work requirements and ensure personal fitness and adequate rest for duty.
  • Ensure all cargo and ground operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and Fiji Link standards, including SMS, DAMP, FRMS, and OHS.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must have Fiji School Form 6 /Year 12 pass or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Experience in hospitality and/or a customer service related role.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be self-organized and capable of working under pressure.
  • A good relationship builder and solution focused.
  • Exposure to airport operations will be an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Possess a valid Grade 2 Fiji Vehicle Drivers license.
  • Physically fit and at least 170 cm tall to reach the aircraft cargo hold height.
