Teaching Assistant
PVIS is currently seeking expressions of interest for Teaching Assistants in our Early Education Centre and Senior Secondary School. We are looking for Experience with you people or studies in education are desirable. If you are passionate about working alongside educators to create a supportive and enriching space for young children, we would love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an
effective team member
- specific literacy and numeracy duties may include working with small groups as well as
individual students. These may include: leading guided reading groups, reading aloud and storytelling, working on mathematics strategies with small groups
- under teacher direction, maintaining anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student’s progress
- assisting with science demonstrations, textile and cooking classes; e.g. collation of food lists, purchasing, preparation and storage of materials
- assisting in the supervision of education activities, under the direction of a teacher
- displaying respect and empathy for all students especially those with high level needs
- displaying confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitivity to students and their families
- assisting with the management and stocktaking of equipment and resources
- assisting teachers and students with sporting activities and with school excursions
- clerical assistance duties including photocopying teaching materials, preparation of resources and assisting in organising off site activities
- assisting in preparing, storing, making available and clearing away teaching equipment and materials
- assisting teaching staff with playground and bus supervision
- collecting money from students for various school activities as requiredcare of school environment and equipment
SELECTION SPECIFICATIONS
As a staff member, the occupant of the position will have:
- experience with digital technology
- working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite
- well-developed literacy and numeracy skills
- well-developed communication skills and attention to detail
- an understanding of the sensitive and confidential nature of matters involved in the role
- the ability to work under pressure
- the ability to work in a small and busy team environment
- the ability to work independently, intuitively and flexibly
- the ability to establish good working relationships with students, parents, staff and the School community.

- comply with the School’s Code of Conduct and with the PVIS policies and regulatory requirements
