Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and skilled individual to fulfil the role of Software Programmer & Data Analyst within our IT/MIS Department at Solomon Airlines. This position combines the responsibilities of software development with data analytics, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to both areas within the organization. The Software Programmer & Data Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain software applications while also analyzing and interpreting data to drive informed decision-making and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement software applications and systems in alignment with business requirements.
- Conduct data analysis, visualization, and interpretation to extract valuable insights and trends from datasets.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate data analytics functionalities into software solutions for enhanced performance and functionality.
- Maintain and optimize existing software applications and databases to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Utilize programming skills and data analytics tools to create innovative solutions and automation processes.
- Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to analyze data and generate predictive models.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and visualizations.
- Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in software development and data analytics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in software development, programming, and data analytics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or others.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of database management systems, data visualization tools, and statistical methods.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of database management systems, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured database systems.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with data mining, machine learning, and predictive modelling.
- Familiarity with big data technologies and platforms.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Certification in data analytics or related field.
- Proficiency in software version control systems such as GitHub, GitLab, or others.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and infrastructure automation.
- Understanding of Imperative, Parallel, and Functional Programming Concepts.
