Role Purpose

To contribute and coordinate the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) programming and advocacy portfolio, providing strategic guidance and a coherent framework for interventions of the IPPF’s Pacific programme. To provide technical assistance to the Pacific Humanitarian and Development Programmes and IPPF Member Associations (MAs) on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), gender and inclusion programming and represent the Federation in regional and global fora.

Deliverables

Describe:

  • Staff responsibilities carried out by the job holder:
  • As assigned for supervision (staff and consultants).
  • Financial responsibilities carried out by the job holder.
  • Contribute to annual budget preparation, monitoring of actual expenditure against budget in your area of responsibility.
  • Advisory responsibilities carried out by the job holder.
  • Coordinate and support SGBV contract deliverables under restricted programs (including SPRINT, SRHiEP, UNFPA Transformative Agenda, and the IPPF Niu Vaka Pacific Strategy).
  • Support Humanitarian and Development technical teams and MA staff and volunteers on effective implementation of SGBV programmes.

Essential Skills

For this technical advisor role, IPPF seeks a professional in social, human and/or clinical sciences with significant experience in gender, SGBV, protection in humanitarian settings. The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in comprehensive SGBV, program design, implementation, capacity building and advocacy in humanitarian and development settings.
  • Significant experience developing organizational guidance and promoting reflective learning on technical issues, relating to SGBV.
  • Advanced understanding of gender transformative programming and inclusion, and on how humanitarian crises affect different segments of a population, including women and men in their diversity, youth, people with disabilities, including those of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity etc.
  • Significant experience of training and mentoring teams on SGBV programming with the ability to bring diverse actors together across cultures and geographies to create an aligned and powerful force for change.
  • Experience in integrating SGBV and SRHR programs desirable.
  • Strong track record of technical leadership, and proven ability to produce demonstrable results
  • Experience of working in diverse cultural contexts
  • Experience working in comprehensive SGBV programs in Health Sector settings, including prevention and response; reproductive coercion, intimate partner violence, sexual violence and female genital mutilation
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills to internal and external audiences.
  • Sound judgement, particularly in constrained and pressured situations and environments.
  • Experience working in the Pacific Islands region highly desirable.
  • Able to work independently and be self-motivated in defining goals and objectives, while also working collaboratively in a team across disciplines, geographical locations and cultures.
  • Fluent in English, other IPPF languages desirable.
