VACANCY – SENIOR PLUMBER

Wakaya Island Resort & Spa is Fiji’s premier luxury private island destination, offering an exceptional guest experience in one of the South Pacific’s most exclusive and pristine environments.

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and proactive Senior Plumber to join our Engineering Department and assist in maintaining the resort’s critical infrastructure and utility systems.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all plumbing, water supply, wastewater, irrigation, and related utility systems across the island.

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing & Water Systems

• Install, maintain, and repair all plumbing systems throughout the resort.
• Diagnose and rectify plumbing faults efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain hot and cold water distribution systems.
• Repair and replace valves, taps, mixers, sanitary fittings, toilets, showers, and fixtures.
• Conduct regular inspections of plumbing infrastructure.

Water Production & Distribution

• Monitor and maintain resort water supply systems.
• Operate and maintain water pumps, pressure pumps, booster pumps, and transfer pumps.
• Monitor water storage tanks and distribution networks.
• Assist in maintaining water filtration and treatment systems.
• Monitor water consumption and recommend conservation initiatives.

Wastewater & Sewerage Systems

• Maintain sewer lines, septic systems, and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Troubleshoot blockages, leaks, and drainage issues.
• Ensure wastewater systems comply with environmental standards.
• Coordinate servicing and maintenance of treatment plant equipment.

Irrigation Systems

• Maintain irrigation pumps, pipelines, sprinklers, and valves.
• Ensure landscaping irrigation systems operate efficiently.
• Monitor water usage and identify leaks or inefficiencies.

Preventative Maintenance

• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct routine inspections and testing.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend stock requirements.

Projects & Improvements

• Assist with resort refurbishment projects.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades and new installations.
• Review contractor work and ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Provide recommendations for operational efficiencies and cost savings.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow all Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
• Ensure safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Participate in emergency response activities when required.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

• Trade Certificate in Plumbing or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Minimum 7–10 years of plumbing experience.
• Previous experience within a hotel, resort, island, commercial, industrial, or utility environment.
• Strong experience with:
  • Water treatment systems
  • Water pumps and pressure systems
  • Wastewater and sewerage treatment systems
  • Irrigation systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Resort infrastructure maintenance
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Computer literacy for maintenance reporting systems.
• Valid driver’s licence preferred.
