Job Title : Operations Manager
Location : Tanna Branch

Purpose

VAN-PAWA Ltd is inviting sealed applications for the position of Operations Manager to lead its Tanna operations. The Operations Manager will be based on Tanna and will provide overall day-to-day technical management oversight and support, this may include anything from replacing outdated equipment to installing new safety features to improve the overall performance of our team and ensure that Van-Pawa Ltd service provision aligns with good industrial practices and regulatory requirements and adheres to customer expectations.

About the Role of Operations Manager-Tanna Branch

As an operations manager, your duties encompass overseeing staff supervision, house connections, repairing and maintaining transmission and distribution lines, and managing all line connections within the transmission and distribution network. Additionally, you’ll supervise electricity generation, transmission, and ground-level management of the Tanna electricity grid, while also monitoring plant operations to ensure its compliance with safety regulations. Here are some key responsibilities and skills you may encounter in this position.

About the Candidate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Responsible for supervision and support to staff and ensuring that assigned tasks and responsibilities are executed effectively.
  • Power Generation: Oversee the operation of Tanna power plant, ensuring they are running efficiently and effectively.
  • Transmission and Distribution: Manage the transmission and distribution networks to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to customers.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for power plant, transmission lines, and distribution equipment.
  • Workforce Management: Supervise and manage a team of operations staff, including engineers, Mechanics, admin officers and line workers.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans to respond to power outages, natural disasters, or other disruptions.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that customer service is provided in a timely and efficient manner, including resolving customer complaints and issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Diesel Generator Technician/Operator experience or similar roles.
  • Experience in a management or leadership role, with responsibility for operations, maintenance, and/or capital projects.
  • Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with grid-connected renewable energy technologies

Competencies and skills

  • Working knowledge of relevant software programs
  • Strong understanding of power plant systems, including cooling systems, turbines, generators, and controls
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and calculations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and reporting skills
  • Strong analytical and system-diagnosing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask
  • Demonstrate ethical and integrity attributes.
  • Ability to build relationships with corporate partners and other relevant stakeholders.

This Position will report directly to the General Manager (Van-Pawa Limited)
