Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position provides safe, competent, and culturally responsive nursing care under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse or other health professional. The position contributes to effective patient care, health promotion, and the efficient functioning of the health facility in line with Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MOHMS) policies and standards.

Locations: Labasa Hospital, CWM Hospital, Sigatoka Hospital

Key Responsibilities

1. Adhere to standard guidelines, infection control, risk management policies and PSC code of conduct

2. Provide quality and safe care to all patients respecting dignity, privacy and ensure confidentiality of information at all time.

3. Recognize normal and abnormal conditions in the assessment of the patient and intervene and evaluate individual health and functional status.

4. Monitor the impact of nursing care through ongoing communication with the RN regarding the health and functional status of patients.

5. Provide support, comfort, empathy and the appropriate advice when dealing with daily activities and emotional needs of patient.

6. Devise individual work plan which is achievable, accept individual accountability for actions within the position and submit reports in a timely manner.

7. Use health information technology to record and access patient information

8. Active participation in the corporate activities of the Ministry as and when required.

 

Knowledge & Experience

  1. 1. Experience in the provision of primary care and nursing support to patients within a hospital setting or primary care institution
  2. 2. Knowledge and experience in key tasks and duties
  3. 3. Working knowledge on Nursing Standard, documentation and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  4. 4. Understanding of the Public Service Code of Conduct, Public Service Values and Ethics.
  5. 5. Sound knowledge of Nurses policy and Procedure manual for Enrolled Nurses.

Skills & Abilities

  1. 1. Interpersonal communication skills
  2. 2. Clinical skills with demonstrated ability to learn
  3. 3. Ability to be composed and maintain professionalism in an emergency situation
  4. 4. An ability to empathise and develop therapeutic relationships with people.
  5. 5. Demonstrate the ability to document all care provided in accordance to Nursing Standard requirements.
  6. 6. A passion for working with patients and administering care to improve and maintain health.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance will be measured through the following indicators:

1. Delivery of patient care that meets established clinical standards and within scope of practice ad accountable for own practices and patients care in clinical areas.

2. Timely and accurate completion of nursing records, reports, and documentation.

3. Demonstrated compliance with infection prevention, safety, and ethical requirements.

4. Active participation in professional development, training and corporate activities of the Ministry as and when required.
