Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our engineering team at our remote luxury resort.
This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in an island environment and has strong experience with marine vessels and generators, alongside general mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance, servicing, and repair of:
- Marine engines (boats, tenders, outboards)
- Diesel generators and power systems
- Resort vehicles and plant equipment
- Preventative maintenance scheduling and fault diagnosis
- Emergency repairs to minimise operational downtime
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and service records
- Working closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure smooth resort operations
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a high standard
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a mechanic (marine and/or heavy diesel preferred)
- Strong knowledge of generators and diesel engines
- Marine experience highly regarded
- Ability to work independently in a remote location
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
Desirable Attributes:
- Previous experience working in a resort, island, or remote environment
- Trade qualification in mechanical engineering or similar
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and team-focused mindset
