Materials Planning Officer
The role is responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of aircraft components and consumables for the respective aircraft fleet type from approved vendors/suppliers based on material requests for scheduled and unscheduled tasks. The responsibilities will also extend to include commercial components and consumables for the Company Ground Support Equipment and facility maintenance.
This role reports to Technical Materials Coordinator - Purchasing.
Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reviews and processes electronic material requests for AOG Priority and scheduled Heavy Maintenance Visits (HMV) from Maintenance and Aircraft Support Workshops.
- Initiates procurement by sourcing quotes from OEMs, approved vendors, and open market suppliers, evaluating based on price, lead time, part condition, warranty terms, etc.
- Analyzes received quotations and formulates proposals for approval based on urgency, pricing, lead time, and other factors.
- Coordinates freight logistics and customs clearance to ensure timely availability of materials for AOG situations or scheduled maintenance.
- Liaises with Engineering Planning & Technical Services to identify spare parts and timeframes, placing orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Arranges purchase order authorizations and investigates leasing options when outright purchase is not viable.
- Ensures correct spares are available for aircraft, support workshop, ground support equipment, and facility maintenance.
- Liaises closely with the Repair & Warranty Officer for quick turnaround of Company owned components for overhaul, ensuring timely release to service by QA Materials Inspector.
- Monitors inventory levels, replenishing stock efficiently based on turnover, cost, and lead time considerations.
- Manages Main Base Kit stock, monitors exchanges, and ensures timely return of core units under Inventory Technical Management.
- Recommends disposal of obsolete or irreparable assets and oversees sale of surplus spares.
- Coordinates with the Freight Coordinator for shipment priorities, tracks shipments, and ensures parts are received on time.
- Participates in planning and maintenance meetings, assisting in daily monitoring of component loans and minimizing costs.
- Uses AMOS engineering maintenance system to manage material planning duties.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Technical Materials Coordinator - Purchasing.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Business or Finance or Supply Chain Management.
- Dangerous Goods Certification would be an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Procurement & Supply Chain.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and familiar with inventory management ERP systems.
