The Manager Safety is responsible for the Safety and Quality Management Systems and the Flight Safety Programme for Fiji Link, ensuring compliance with AOC and IOSA requirements. Provide oversight of Fiji Link's flight operations and maintenance, including outsourced functions, in accordance with agreement terms.

The successful applicant will report directly to the Senior Manager Fiji Link.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Safety Management System (SMS): Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and daily administration of the SMS across the organization, ensuring alignment with Safety regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Safety: Direct the department's activities to ensure safe operations, including reviewing and appraising operational procedures, and driving continuous enhancement of safety systems through best practices.
  • Manuals and Documentation: Lead the development and completion of necessary documentation for AOC and IOSA compliance.
  • Safety Data Analysis: Analyze safety data to identify trends related to hazards, events, and occurrences, providing decision-making tools for risk management.
  • Safety Training and Publications: Oversee safety-related training programs to meet regulatory requirements, manage safety publications to ensure they are current, and relevant to fleet operations.
  • Safety Risk Management: Ensure the management of safety risks and threats to aircraft operations, maintaining compliance with AOC conditions and applicable regulations.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and manage the quality assurance program to ensure conformance and compliance with AOC and IOSA standards.
  • Communication and Coordination: Facilitate communication and coordination with operational managers, bringing safety and quality issues to the attention of management and delivering safety information to staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • External Liaison: Act as the primary liaison with external entities, including OEMs and regulatory authorities, managing and maintaining the Flight Data Analysis (FDA) Program.
  • Safety Risk Management: Facilitate safety risk management and management of change processes within operations, aligning activities with Fiji Link's Safety Management System.
  • Training and Mentorship: Develop and deliver SMS training programs, mentor safety officers in incident investigation, and assist in identifying and developing potential successors for the Manager Safety role.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Minimum of a Degree in Aviation or equivalent experience.
  • Aviation Safety Management System training.
  • Accident/incident investigation Training preferred.
  • Experience in airline industry.
  • Experience with IOSA preferred.
  • Understanding of auditing principles.
  • Understanding of Flight Data Analyses concepts and processes.
  • Experience in Aviation Management Systems with airline operational knowledge.
  • At least 5 years of airline experience - preferred in Safety management systems.
  • Understanding of Airline Management systems and functions.
