The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 34 years. Today we are in one of the largest business schools in the country and off degree programmes in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 11 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

  1. LIBRARY ASSISTANT

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We are looking for a creative, energetic and highly motivated individual who can be able to fill the role of Assistant Librarian within the IBSUniversity Library. The Assistant Librarian will manage, organize, evaluate and disseminate information, providing support to members of an academic faculty including students, researchers and lecturing staff.

MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep detailed records of lending transactions and library users.
  • Closely monitored front desk visitors to maintain a secure and clean environment.
  • Handle receipt processing for the book, audiovisual and computer software inventories.
  • Assisting an average of 100 plus students weekly with library computers and provide information on logging into the internet and online portal
  • Collating, shelving, filing, sorting, or other tasks

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Studies or relevant field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience.
  • Must have exposure to Dewey Decimal Classification System and Subject areas.
  • Be able to catalog and edit records online.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be an active listener.
  • Must have good interpersonal & Communication skills.
  • Must have some understanding on the COHA SYSTEM
