INVESTIGATOR

The Mapai Group is seeking to recruit an experienced INVESTIGATOR to be based at our Head Office in Lae Morobe Province. The primary responsibility of the role is to collect evidence, conduct enquiries, and prepare case and prosecution briefs. The position will occasionally require deployment away from the office setting and also requires the incumbent to be on call duties after hours.

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Prepare detail reports on the observations and activities at a scene for the use in legal proceedings
• Develop, secure and package physical evidence for use in legal proceedings
• Carry out all investigation in accordance with legal compliance, provide investigation reports and make necessary information available to management
• Prepare reports that detail investigation findings
• Develop relationships with informants in order to obtain information related to cases
• Examine records in order to locate links in chains of evidence or information
• Obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analyzing records
• Collaborate with other offices and agencies in order to exchange information and coordinate activities
• Any other duties as directed by the General Manager/Company Lawyer

The Candidate Requirement

• Must have prosecution and/or paralegal experiences
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in either Law and/or in Prosecutions
• Able to write concise reports & statements
• Must have in-depth understanding of the law in relation to prosecution and investigations
• Strong communication skills both written and oral, in English & Tok Pisin
• High level computer skills in MS Word & Excel
• Possess valid PNG’s class 6 driver’s license
