The Coral Sea Hotels, under Steamships Trading Company, is a renowned group of luxury hotels, offering exceptional experiences to guests, operating 7 properties in 5 locations in Papua New Guinea, committed to providing the highest standards of hospitality, service, and memorable stays.

Opportunity exists for a dynamic, results-driven Group Head of Sales and Marketing to lead sales and marketing efforts across this portfolio of hotels. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving brand growth, market expansion, and revenue generation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the sales strategy for all hotels within the group. Identify new revenue opportunities and implement strategies to increase market share, drive direct bookings, and grow partnerships.
  • Marketing Direction: Oversee the marketing strategy for the entire group, including brand development, digital marketing, content creation, and promotions. Ensure consistent messaging and brand presence across all hotels.
  • Revenue Optimization: Collaborate with the revenue management team to ensure pricing, distribution, and promotional strategies are optimized to maximize room revenue and ancillary sales.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales and marketing teams across each hotel, providing guidance on best practices, performance improvement, and achieving KPIs.
  • Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with the hotel operations teams to ensure alignment between marketing and sales objectives and ensure customer experiences exceed expectations.
  • Market Analysis & Trends: Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and emerging opportunities within the hotel industry. Use insights to refine strategies and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all marketing efforts uphold the group’s brand standards and enhance its reputation as a leader in the hospitality sector.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the marketing and sales budget for the group, ensuring cost-effectiveness and a strong return on investment.
  • Customer Engagement: Enhance guest acquisition and retention strategies through tailored marketing campaigns, loyalty programs, and personalized communication.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in sales and marketing roles within the hospitality industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership position managing multiple properties.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth, increasing brand awareness, and developing successful marketing strategies within the hotel sector.
  • Strong understanding of hotel sales channels (OTAs, direct bookings, travel agencies, etc.) and digital marketing tactics.
  • Experience with revenue management and pricing strategies to optimize hotel performance.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve high performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making and proficiency in market analysis, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining focus on long-term goals.
