Position: Finance Officer
The Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society invites applications from suitably qualified and highly motivated individuals to fill the position of Finance Officer, to be appointed immediately.
Key Responsibilities
• Accounts Payable Processing
• Facilitate payment of invoices in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Verify, process, and manage payments to vendors and suppliers
• Process supplier invoices, prepare and issue payment receipts
• Financial Data & Record Management
• Perform day-to-day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
• Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other respective records
• Ensure financial data is properly recorded and entered into the MYOB accounting system
• Maintain organized and accurate financial filing systems
• Reconciliation & Reporting
• Establish, maintain, and reconcile the general ledger
• Assist with banking and reconciliations
• Reconcile supplier statements, invoices, and payment records
• Generate reports detailing accounts payable status
• Assist in preparing documentation for audits and management reviews
• Compliance & Coordination
• Ensure all financial transactions comply with internal policies and external regulations
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
• Liaise with vendors and internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies
• Assist with special projects as requested by management
Education, Experience & Competencies
• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Accounting from a recognized institution
• At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in accounts payable and data entry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong data entry and analytical skills
• Hands-on experience with MYOB Accounting software or similar • accounting systems
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under minimal supervision
• High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality
