Job Summary:
The E-Commerce Data Analyst plays a critical role in driving data-based decision-making within Digital Superstore’s online retail operations. The role focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple e-commerce and digital marketing platforms to enhance sales performance, optimize customer journeys, and improve operational efficiency.
This position requires a highly analytical professional who can translate large data sets into actionable insights to guide marketing, product, and merchandising strategies. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, IT, and finance to ensure that e-commerce performance is tracked, measured, and continuously improved.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
A Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or E-Commerce. Postgraduate degree (Master’s in Business Analytics, Data Science, or Digital Marketing) is an advantage. Professional certification in Google Analytics, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Python for Data Analysis is preferred. The following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are required to successfully undertake this role:
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or e-commerce analytics.
- Proven experience in sales performance tracking, campaign analysis, and digital data reporting.
- Experience in creating dashboards, data models, and predictive analytics for e-commerce operations.
- Prior experience in a retail, FMCG, or digital commerce environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento) and their analytics systems.
- Knowledge of digital marketing metrics, SEO, and online customer behavior.
- Solid foundation in database management, business intelligence systems, and data visualization tools.
- Understanding of financial performance metrics (sales margin, cost of goods, and ROI analysis).
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, Google Analytics, and data visualization.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Competence in Python or R for statistical analysis and predictive modeling (preferred).
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection & Management
- Collect and maintain data from various e-commerce platforms, marketing systems, CRM tools, and third-party analytics sources.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data across multiple digital touchpoints.
- Manage data pipelines and dashboards for key stakeholders.
- Implement processes for real-time data monitoring and anomaly detection.
- Coordinate with IT and developers to ensure seamless integration of analytics tools into the e-commerce infrastructure.
- Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Analyze online sales performance, website traffic, conversion rates, and customer behavior patterns.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of product performance, pricing trends, and promotional effectiveness.
- Track key digital metrics such as bounce rate, average order value (AOV), session duration, and cart abandonment rates.
- Identify opportunities for improving customer experience, retention, and conversion optimization.
- Translate complex data into actionable business insights and visual reports.
- Reporting & Dashboard Management
- Develop, maintain, and automate data visualization dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Google Data Studio, Tableau).
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for management, detailing KPIs and key insights.
- Present data findings to senior management and cross-functional teams to support strategic decisions.
- Generate ad hoc reports on specific campaigns, products, or performance trends as required.
- Forecasting & Predictive Modelling
- Build data-driven forecasting models for online sales, demand planning, and marketing ROI.
- Analyze seasonality, market trends, and customer purchase behaviors to predict performance outcomes.
- Support the development of predictive analytics tools to enhance targeting and personalization.
- Optimization & Performance Improvement
- Work with the marketing team to optimize digital campaigns based on performance data.
- Monitor and recommend improvements to website UX/UI based on analytical findings.
- Support A/B testing initiatives to enhance conversion rates and user engagement.
- Provide insights to improve product listings, pricing, and promotional timing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Finance and Operations teams to ensure alignment between e-commerce sales data and accounting systems.
- Collaborate with Digital Merchandisers and IT to improve data capture and reporting capabilities.
- Communicate analytical insights to non-technical audiences in a clear and actionable manner.
- Other Duties
- Carry out any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Digital Merchandiser and Promotions Manager.
