Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position will provide support for the well-being, health and job satisfaction of the staff of the Ministry. Provide additional support to identified members of the community and beneficiaries of the social assistance programs. The assignment is expected to cover 9 months.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties;

1. Conduct individual counselling sessions for MWCSP social workers.

2. Develop customized counselling modules and approaches to address specific challenges faced by social workers.

3. Assist the social workers to develop self-care strategies

4. Conduct group sessions focusing on stress management, economic empowerment, resilience building, and coping strategies.

5. Organize group sessions for referred beneficiaries of social protection programs or from the community such as group of disadvantaged families, parents of children with disabilities, or survivors of Gender Based Violence.

6. Any other related task assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge & Experience

  1. A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in providing counselling services particularly to professionals
  2. Must ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing counselling services and be able to adhere to professional codes of conduct and ethical guidelines to maintain confidentiality in all documentations and communication
  3. Outstanding leadership capacity, being innovative and a team player
  4. Have an experience and demonstrated ability to build strong networks across the organization, government and the wider community
  5. Capability to be confident in making sound decision

Skills & Abilities

  1. Strong analytical capacity and excellent written, communication and presentation skills. Multilingual skill will be an added advantage
  2. Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and to undertake independent problem solving
  3. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, maintain session reports, assess the impact of counselling support and establish a monthly feedback mechanism
  4. Advanced computer literacy level. Ability to use assessment tools to measure effectiveness of counselling sessions will be an added advantage
  5. Proven ability and desire to develop professionally and able to adapt well to any work environment that requires minimum or no supervision

 

Additional Information

 

All applicants for employment must be Fiji citizens, under age 60, in sound health with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition for employment.
