Compliance Officer & Executive Operations Coordinator – Island Resort Operations

Location:

Primary: Mainland Head Office, Denerau Marina, Nadi, Fiji

Secondary with regular visits: Yasawa Islands, Fiji (Barefoot Kuata & Barefoot Manta Resorts)

Primarily mainland-based oversight with a combination of on-site island visits

Role Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Compliance Officer & Executive Operations Coordinator, to oversee and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and environmental and operational standards across our island resorts. In addition, the role requires Executive Administration, Special Projects and Event Management duties. The role is key in maintaining our reputation for excellence in sustainable and responsible tourism while safeguarding operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to local laws, health & safety regulations, environmental permits, and labour laws.
  • Proactive and regular compliance audits, risk assessments, and inspections across island operations.
  • Develop, implement, and pro-actively monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational compliance.
  • Coordinate with Marine Conservation, Food & Beverage, Security, and Maintenance teams to ensure best practices.
  • Manage compliance documentation, reporting, and communication with government agencies.
  • Lead training programs for staff to foster a culture of compliance and environmental responsibility.
  • Monitor adherence to Marine Protected Area (MPA) guidelines and sustainability commitments.
  • Oversee the resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to ensure measurable community benefits.
  • Advise senior management on compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support emergency response planning and compliance incident investigations.
  • Coordinate Senior Management schedules, prepare and provide administrative reports, presentations and strategic planning.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree or Certification in Compliance, Environmental Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in compliance or operations management, preferably in the hospitality, tourism, or eco-resort sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Fijian laws and regulations, especially regarding environmental protection, labour compliance, and occupational health & safety.
  • Excellent reporting, auditing, and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a “never-gives-up,” practical, solutions-driven mindset. Pro-active, confident, outgoing.
  • Excellent command of the English language, spoken and written, excellent computer skills across MS Office, spreadsheets and emails, fair knowledge and understanding of AI.
  • Passion for sustainable tourism, marine conservation, and community engagement.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments. Can work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to island locations.
