What is the job?
We’re looking for a Chief Engineer to join our amazing team at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa.
Our guests’ and colleagues’ safety & comfort always come first. Which is why we’re seeking out a multi-tasker with the repair skills needed to keep our hotel looking and feeling their very best. Our new Chief Engineer will lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs.
A little taste of your day-to-day:
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly:
- Directing all engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task.
- Developing and implementing strategies for hotel engineering department that support achievement of the hotel’s goals.
- Creating a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests and colleagues to enjoy.
- Oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair.
- Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimizing waste and meeting our “green engage” initiatives.
- Monitoring compliance with building safety codes, health and safety laws and other regulations, conduct walk-throughs to assess the safety and efficiency of equipment and maintenance of structures.
- Be flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed.
- Building strong relationships with external contacts including guests, regulatory agencies and other contacts as needed.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments and subordinates.
What we need from you:
- A degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable tertiary institute.
- At least eight+ years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience – international experience in a luxury resort setting is preferred.
- Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.
- Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required.
- Flexibility – due to the nature of our operations, you will be required to work shifts, weekend and public holidays.
- Possess the knowledge & understanding of the relevant rules & regulations pertaining to their discipline.
- Excellent administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional presentation and interpersonal abilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Be competent in training others for knowledge prescribed in the multi skilled programme.
