CARGO OFFICER- POM

The Ground Operations (Cargo) Division is seeking an experienced and qualified candidate for the position of Cargo Officer. This position is based at the PNG Air Head Office, Port Moresby. The incumbent will ensure that all cargo are accepted, manifested and lodged to traffic for uplift consistent with PNG Air Cargo Management and Procedures Manual and in compliance with IATA Rules, other applicable Regulations and Procedures.

Reporting to the Cargo Operations Manager, your role as the Cargo Officer will be:

• Attending daily Tool Box meetings and briefings
• Prepare cargo for loading/unloading.
  • Make up or break down cargo for loading
  • Prepare barrows in according with loading instructions
  • Ensure weights on barrows are accurate and match the manifest
  • Ensure cargo is not damaged or showing signs of DG’s
• Ensure cargo is handled in accordance with manual handling procedures
• Adhere to International Customs requirements when handling International cargo
• Assist the Ramp Supervisor to ensure on time departures
• Assist the Cargo Systems Officers with large or bulky freight
• Being responsible for maintaining a safe working environment
• Ensure GSE is in safe working order performing routine checks
• Using GSE in safe and responsible manner
• Assist loading and unloading of aircraft as per instructions given by the Cargo Supervisor or Ramp Operations Manager
• Safe driving of vehicles on the apron and around aircraft
• Delivery of Cargo to passengers/Clients, handling special items with due care
• Recognising and handling of dangerous goods
• Correctly handling and loading of Live animals and special loads
• Report any Safety or Security occurrences to Cargo Supervisor/Cargo Operations Manager
• Assist when required to make up and break down Cargo
• Other duties as required and advised by Cargo Supervisors/Operations Manager

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

• Grade 12 Higher School Certificate or relevant tertiary qualifications in a recognised institution
• Minimum of 3 years experiences preferably in an airlines industry
• Valid PNG Driver’s license
• Have current valid Police Clearance
• Good computer skills
