Ramp Coordinator - Fiji Link- Nadi

The Ramp Coordinator ensures safe, secure, and efficient ramp operations on the ground by adhering to aircraft arrival/departure procedures, coordinating all Back of House (BOH) activities by allocating staff that are competent and in their personal protective equipment, coordinate loading and unloading as per procedures using the correct Ground Service Equipment, maintain accurate documentation and records, manage safety communications and incident reporting, and drive continuous improvements to passenger experience, ramp safety, and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that safety and security are always maintained while the aircraft is on ground.
  • Responsible for all Back of House operations and the shift's primary point of contact, including load adjustments including offload for Weight and Balance requirement and offloading of bags for non-traveling passengers.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings, complete relevant check sheets, and assign duties per the daily movement schedule to ensure the on-duty team understands their roles and workload, reallocating resources as needed for delays. Appoint a deputy to take charge when the Ramp Coordinator is occupied.
  • Ensure qualified staff with appropriate PPE are available for all ramp duties, including fueled GSE, charged communication and cleaning devices, FOD checks, arrival/departure marshalling, FOD checks, passenger ramp escort, loading/unloading per procedure, support for special-category passengers, and safe handling, transport, storage, and securing of special loads, including Dangerous Goods, in accordance with Fiji Link manuals.
  • All special handling cargo must be identified (contents), and the loading location is as per Loading Instruction Report and communicated to the receiving station for handling at arrival.
  • Monitor passenger baggage and cargo to prevent damage or loss at the station. Upon acceptance, Fiji Link takes full responsibility, and the Ramp Coordinator is accountable for custody.
  • Allocate staff and equipment to assist passengers up and down the air stairs, provide ramp support for special-needs customers, and hand over these passengers to Front of House (FOH).
  • Ensure all bags loaded for departure or received on arrival are recorded in the Bag Reconciliation System (BRS). Any discrepancies are flagged to the originating station or Front of House (FOH) for correction, and the correct number of pieces and total weight are read back as part of the Loading Instruction Report (LIR). Notify the receiving station of any over- or under-delivery of bags/cargo.
  • Verify that all required documents, inspection checklists, Aircraft Security Checklist, Loading Instruction Reports, Shift Reports, and NOTOC where applicable are signed/counter-signed and filed by shift end, either at Front of House (FOH) or Back of House (BOH) for verification.
  • Ensure a shift handover takes place between shifts and that all concerns raised during the shift are addressed.
  • Ensure aircraft on layover and turn around is thoroughly cleaned and secured at night with safety cones placed correctly and parked at a properly lit area.
  • Oversee Back of House cages to ensure cargo, unclaimed items, and rush bags are sent out or communicated to stations to reunite with customers. Any remaining items need daily customer follow-up or transfer to the International Baggage Room (Nadi) for expedited delivery.
  • Ensure cages are always locked and that the Security Officer maintains an accurate log of inbound, outbound, and dangerous goods cargo.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory and safeguarding catering supplies, cleaning agents, PPE, and safety cards.
  • Check that all GSE and Back of House (BOH) equipment are operational and the end of each shift.  Immediately report and address any defects.
  • Responsible for training Back of House staff (BOH) in Disabled Passenger Lift (DPL) operation, passenger Boarding Ramp, cabin and flight deck windshield cleaning, Tug driving OJT, and GPU/GCU procedures upon completion of SME training.
  • Ensure all hazards, incidents, and accidents are reported promptly via occurrence reports and included in the daily shift briefing.
  • Proposes and implements improvements or reinforces the existing procedures to enhance passenger experience, ramp safety, work processes, and automation.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Form 7 pass or equivalent, or certification in a relevant aviation field, with a minimum of three (3) years' Back of House (BOH) experience within Airport Operations.
  • Valid Group 2 drivers license.
  • Experience with ATR and DHC Weight and Balance is advantageous.
  • Prior team leadership experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge and/or certification in Dangerous Goods, Aviation Security, Cargo Screening, and Cargo Acceptance will be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to lead and direct team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Able to work effectively in all weather conditions, remain calm under pressure, and ensure safe and secure aircraft handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure while maintaining safe, secure, and on-time performance standards.
