The team leader – rehabilitation outpatient department, is responsible for the effective coordination, supervision, and leadership of nursing services within the Rehabilitation Outpatient Unit. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centred rehabilitative nursing care in alignment with Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MOHMS) policies, standards, and values. The role involves oversight of clinical standards, resource management, staff development, and contributing to the hospital’s business plan and quality improvement goals.

Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Director of Nursing in the implementation of the Business Plan for Nursing and actively participate in the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
2. Provide clinical leadership and supervision to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based rehabilitative nursing care aligned with MOHMS standards.
3. Manage nursing workforce and operations by maintaining appropriate staffing levels, preparing duty rosters, monitoring attendance, and conducting staff performance appraisals.
4. Monitor and evaluate service quality through regular audits, clinical reviews, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
5. Oversee efficient management of human, financial, and physical resources to ensure effective and sustainable service delivery.
6. Facilitate professional growth and capacity building through continuous professional development, in-service education, and mentoring of nursing staff.
7. Foster multidisciplinary collaboration with medical officers, therapists, and other allied health professionals to promote coordinated, holistic, and patient-centred rehabilitative care.
8. Ensure adherence to professional ethics and patient safety by upholding standards of dignity, confidentiality, and accountability in all nursing practices.
Key Performance Indicators
Performance will be measured through the following indicators:
1. Timely recording and reporting of all required reports as per agreed timeline and management of unit personal performance resources and information to enable business continuity and delivery of service.
2. Maintenance of staffing levels, especially the right mix of Registered / Nursing Assistants for the department ensuring that daily coverage of shifts is maintained with the required number of competent nurses.
3. Effectively plan, coordinate and promote nursing research for the continuous in-service development of nurses.
4. Effective supervision and professional development (staff training, retention, performance appraisals) and this includes timely monitoring and evaluation of nursing standard audit and quality improvement of services to enable customer satisfaction.
