Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer- (LAME)

The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) reports to the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator and is responsible for performing aircraft maintenance and supervising personnel on the ramp and during hangar maintenance. He/she is also accountable for completing required documentation and ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with approved technical data issued by Fiji Airways, the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF), and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Accomplishes work connected with aircraft maintenance as directed by the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Provides direct supervision of LAMEs, AMEs, Tradesmen, and Utility Hands during ramp and hangar maintenance.
  • Provides relief-servicing duties in the absence of the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator as instructed by the Manager Aircraft Base & Line Maintenance.
  • Ensures work safety in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, MMOE, Technical Operating Procedures, and Line/ETOPS Manual.
  • Certifies documentation in accordance with requirements of the regulatory authority, Fiji Airways ANR 145C Maintenance Organisation MMOE, Technical Operating Procedures, and Line/ETOPS Manual.
  • Promotes disciplined work practices consistent with Fiji Airways, CAAF, and OEM standards.
  • Performs instructions and duties assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator, including Maintenance Control Centre responsibilities and Travelling Ground Engineer tasks when required.
  • Complies with employment contracts, company policies, and procedures.
  • Promotes service culture principles aligned with Fiji Airways' Service Vision and Values.
  • Demonstrates discipline, self-motivation, and a proactive approach, showing initiative, good communication skills, and the ability to question, challenge, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Suggests improvements and provides practical solutions to enhance work practices in line with Engineering & Maintenance policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Successfully completed an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course with approved Tertiary organization.
  • CAAF License Without Type Rating or recognized AMEL.
  • Successfully completed Type Rating Courses and hold valid Type Ratings for at least 2 of Fiji Airways or Fiji Link fleet aircraft type.
  • Five years' work experience in Aircraft Maintenance as a Certifying LAME.
  • Should possess excellent Defect Troubleshooting and Rectification Skills.
  • Proficient with common Microsoft Applications and operational knowledge of an ERP system in an Engineering and Maintenance environment would be an advantage.
