 Your Day to Day:

The Porter plays a vital role in creating a positive first and last impression for guests. This role is responsible for assisting guests with luggage handling, escorting them within the hotel, providing information and directions, and ensuring smooth lobby operations. The Porter is a key ambassador of the hotel’s service culture and hospitality promise.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Arrival & Departure

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with unloading luggage.
  • Escort guests to their rooms and explain room features and hotel facilities.
  • Handle luggage storage and retrieval for early arrivals, late departures, or short-term holding.
  • Assist guests during check-out with luggage handling and transportation arrangements.

Lobby & Guest Service Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby area at all times.
  • Assist with opening doors, arranging transport, and providing directions or recommendations.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and liaise with the front desk or other departments as needed.
  • Provide assistance to elderly or special needs guests when required.

Operational Duties

  • Tag, record, and securely store guest luggage or lost-and-found items.
  • Report any suspicious activity or safety concerns to Security or the Duty Manager.
  • Assist in deliveries to guest rooms or other hotel areas (e.g. amenities, messages, floral arrangements).
  • Maintain trolleys and equipment in clean, working condition.

Team Support

  • Support Concierge and Front Office colleagues during busy periods or events.
  • Assist with coordinating group arrivals and departures, including managing baggage flow.
  • Provide backup assistance in emergencies or evacuations, following hotel procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school certificate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within a hotel or customer service environment is an advantage.
  • Friendly, courteous, and well-groomed with strong communication skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting or transporting heavy luggage.
  • Familiarity with hotel layout and local area knowledge is a plus.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
