The Opportunity

The Human Resources (HR) Office is responsible for strategic human resource management advice and policy, workplace relations, staffing and equity, conditions of employment, remuneration and benefits, job evaluation, and the ongoing development of a superior workforce at USP.

 

Under the supervision of an HR Business Partner, the Human Resources Officer works as part of a team of HR professionals to provide HR services to key stakeholders within the university. While performing these duties, the incumbent is required to regularly liaise and interact with counterparts in school, section, and regional campuses, as well as with prospective employees and recruitment agencies both locally and abroad. The incumbent can expect to work under pressure in an environment that can be both challenging and rewarding.

The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A degree (HRM/ER/Management and Public Admin or relevant field) with one (1) year of relevant work experience; or
  • A diploma in a relevant field and three (3) years of relevant work experience, specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • A combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Appreciation and ability to understand the hierarchy of laws and the relevant USP member country employment regulations.
  • Sound understanding and judgment when applying existing USP policies and procedures.
  • Sound experience in human resources processes such as end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, management of contracts, compensation and benefits, and other human resources-related work.
  • Ability to build relationships and provide excellent customer service.
  • Excellent organizational and priority-setting skills, ability to develop and monitor work schedules.
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate the team towards meeting deadlines.
  • Data recording and reporting skills.
  • Experience and appreciation of working with culturally diverse stakeholders. Working with regional stakeholders will be an advantage.
  • Ability to adapt to institutional culture and needs.

The position is available for three years renewable.

Salary Range
FJ$34,220.34 to FJ$40,473.14 per annum
